Washable Sanitary Protection
Increasing numbers of women are choosing re-usable
menstrual products for many of the same reasons as cloth
nappies.
The ‘throw away’ culture applies to sanitary
wear too in modern society, resulting at best in large
amounts in land-fill and at worst encountering it on
a beach.
Women can expect to spend in excess of £1000 on
disposable sanitary products during their lifetime,
making re-usable products a sound investment.
Furthermore, none of the re-usable products contain
any of the absorbers or chemicals found in throw away
products, making them more comfortable for women who
find disposables drying or irritating.
Cloth pads can be washed with nappies, or with other
washing
Women who prefer internal protection, or who are very
environmentally concerned, may choose to create less
waste altogether and opt for the extremely eco-friendly
Mooncup.
Lollipop Sanpad
This is made in the UK, it has 2 layers of 100% cotton
terry, covered with a layer of 100% polyester fleece.
The quilted effect ensures the terry stays put in the
fleece outer. The fleece outer gives ‘stay dry’
feeling as it wicks moisture into the terry. The pads
held in place with wings that fasten securely around
your pants with poppers.
They are available in 3 sizes to suit varying flow,
available with or without a bag.

Mooncup
The Mooncup is a reusable menstrual
cup around two inches long and made from soft silicone
rubber. It is worn internally like a tampon but collects
menstrual fluid rather than absorbing. Unlike tampons
the Mooncup is not a disposable product, so you only
need to buy one. The Mooncup will hold 30ml of fluid,
which is roughly one third of the average total produced
each period. A light seal is formed with your vaginal
walls allowing your menstrual fluid to pass into the
Mooncup without leakage or odour. You will probably
find that you need to empty your Mooncup less frequently
than you currently replace towels or tampons.
